KC Water Restoring Water Service to Customers in South Kansas City

Posted on February 14, 2019

(Kansas City, Mo.)  This morning KC Water experienced two large watermain breaks.  A 24” inch main broke overnight at 3340 W. Coleman.  Water has been restored to the 34 customers affected by this break.

Around 7:30 this morning, many customers in areas of south Kansas City began reporting no water or low water pressure.  KC Water sent inspectors to look for what was causing the problems.  They discovered a 30” main spewing water in a field near 9900 Blue River Road.  The break was isolated by 3:30 and water was being restored and will continue to be restored until all customers are back in service.

Due to the number of customers affected our dispatch center was unable to keep up with call demand.  We recognize how frustrating it was for customers to be without water and unable to report the problem.  We will review our response to this event and make any appropriate adjustments to our procedures.

We thank our customers for their patience and understanding.
