KC Water Receives National Peak Performance Awards

(Kansas City, Mo.) – The National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) recently presented KC Water with four Peak Performance Awards, which recognize public wastewater treatment facilities for outstanding compliance records in the 2015 calendar year. KC Water’s honors include three Gold awards and one Silver award, recognizing KC Water’s efforts to protect regional health and water quality through compliance with established National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits for 2015.

“This is great recognition for our employees who work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to treat Kansas City’s wastewater,” said KC Water Director Terry Leeds. “I’m proud of this achievement, which demonstrates our commitment to protect public health and the environment by providing safe and effective wastewater treatment.”

KC Water’s four Peak Performance Awards included:

  • Gold Award for the Fishing River Wastewater Treatment Facility
  • Gold Award for the Westside Wastewater Treatment Facility
  • Gold Award for the Rocky Branch Sewage Treatment Facility
  • Silver Award for the Birmingham Wastewater Treatment Facilities

In 2015, each of these facilities treated millions of gallons of wastewater.

  • Fishing River Wastewater Treatment Facility 12,330,000 gallons
  • Westside Wastewater Treatment Facility 241,693,000 gallons
  • Rocky Branch Sewage Treatment Facility 17,484,000 gallons
  • Birmingham Wastewater Treatment Facility 170,580,000 gallons
