Understanding KC Water’s Ballot Questions (Aug. 4th Election)
Kansas City voters will see five ballot questions this August, including Question 4 (Water Revenue Bond Authorization) and Question 5 (Sewer Revenue Bond Authorization) for KC Water. These items ask voters to authorize funding tools that help maintain and improve our city’s drinking water and wastewater systems, supporting infrastructure reliability, regulatory compliance, and long-term affordability. Revenue bond authorization allows KC Water to access the lowest-cost financing options, helping reduce overall project costs for customers.

KC Water’s planned water and sewer infrastructure initiatives
These initiatives would fund improvements to drinking water and wastewater systems, including upgrades to treatment plants, replacement of aging pipelines, expanded pumping capacity, and rehabilitation of major water mains and sewer lines to extend their lifespan. Revenue bonds are repaid through system revenues, not taxes, helping ensure reliable, high-quality service for our community.
